Chris X’s 1st post.

Since the dawn of humanity, humans have traveled in search of a better life. Nomads, pilgrims, and immigrants throughout history have traveled the globe in search of new opportunities and new communities.

The internet has revolutionized our society in more ways than one. It has made it possible for people to build careers based on their minds instead of their geography. “The Internet Economy” has laid the foundation for people to make money writing, teaching, creating, consulting.

I believe we are only at the beginning.

I’m leaving the United States.

I’ve spent sixteen years working in events/media/marketing.

My career has taken me through nonprofit organizations, art events, commercial projects, mainstream TV, independent film, pharmaceutical companies, and more. Along the way I have sworn myself to the craft of storytelling and visual media.

I’ve worked with musicians, politicians, activists, criminals, and everything in between. These experiences shaped me, but they also led me to a difficult realization.

Success is an idea, nothing more, a mindset at best.

We’ve been told that success is wealth and stability. Find a career, work until retirement, that’s the narrative we’re sold.

Twice in my lifetime I’ve reached what I deemed “success.” A place in my career where I was making more than enough money, could make whatever art I wanted, and had the power to give other people opportunities.

Twice, I’ve seen it stripped away due to the actions of others.

My vision of success has changed. My heart has turned against capitalism and my mind has opened.

Now, I crave freedom.

So, I sold all my belongings, and I’m headed into the great unknown, terrified and excited at the same time.

Creating with no Bounds.

For those who don’t know me. I’m Chris X creator of www.coolcats.shop.

Author, filmmaker, fashion designer, feral-child of Chicago streets turned philosopher. I’ve made a lot of weird stuff through the years with a lot of cool people.

I’ve also made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot of lessons the hard way.

This isn’t the story of someone who has it all figured out. I’ve only sold a couple hundred copies of my books and two dozen items off my online store.

No trust fund or rich parents.

Just meager savings and all the money I saved from my recent unemployment.

But I’ve survived in harsher conditions and if this works, I’ll be building a better future for not just me but hopefully anyone else who reads this.

Anyone who can learn, adapt, and create on the run, has the ability to build their own opportunities.

Reality is what you make of it.

So, if you’d like to see more of my work, bts, experiments, and more of the lessons I’ve learned, follow along.

I don’t know exactly where this journey will lead but to start, I’m looking for places with low cost of living and up and coming economies.

This isn’t a travel blog, or an influencer diary.

This is one man’s journey to find a better work-life balance.

I’m hoping that you can learn from my mistakes and enjoy the things I create along the way.

Life is always changing, and the world is a big, beautiful place.

I have a feeling thousands of people are quietly wrestling with the same questions I am. Wondering what the limits of this life are, wondering what else is out there, curious about how to pursue that craving for “more.”

So, let’s get rambling ramblers.

Thanks for reading.
